St Augustine’s Cross was erected in 1884 to commemorate where St Augustine celebrated the first mass when he arrived in Britain. The carved Celtic cross is some 23 feet high. The cross is listed, grade II, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1266551
