This Shakespeare pub is the one in Redland - not to be confused with the ones elsewhere in Bristol; there are about four with that name. The inn was originally two buildings: the Shakespeare Tavern and the adjoining Fairbank Cottage before being merged. The pub website records that it may date from 1803, but maps show nothing here until perhaps the 1860s when the area was developed.
