Surprisingly, Taunton has two churches dedicated to St George within a mile of each other. This is the Roman Catholic one, built in 1858-60 with the tower seen here added in 1875. The church is listed Grade II* (list entry 1231202) "as a well-detailed and assured church of lofty proportions by the architect Benjamin Bucknall, a recognised exponent of true Gothic Revival architecture".
