A rather fine construction, which dates back to the early 17th century, giving access to a slightly older house to the rear Image They were collectively Grade I listed https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101247157-council-house-gatehouse-and-gateway-shrewsbury#.Yb5ERGjP3IU & https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1247157 in 1953. All the buildings in the courtyard beyond are now in private ownership, despite the name of the area, which takes its name from the Council of the Welsh Marches which met in buildings on the site in the 1500s.
