This building dates from around the middle of the 19th century, and was probably purpose-built as a shop, unlike many town-centre premises in Shrewsbury which started life as houses. That said, the shopfront seen now is likely to be a 20th century addition, certainly not original in its current form. It is now the premises of a small cafe, and was Grade II listed https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101246905-34-castle-street-shrewsbury#.Yb45zmjP3IU & https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1246905 in 1995.
