Looking festive in the run up to Christmas. Described by Pevsner as ‘the most ambitious medieval house in the town’, 6 Market Place bears the date 1240. The gilded pestle and mortar, restored and rehung above the entrance, and original shop fittings, are a reminder of its previous role as a pharmacy. It now sells wool and much more as well as holding workshops etc.
