No 79 (along with the adjoining Image) forms half of a pair of late 16th or early 17th century houses, which externally at least have been much altered over the years; it's likely that the interiors will retain some traces of their antiquity. Collectively the two buildings were Grade II listed https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101270461-79-and-80-wyle-cop-shrewsbury#.YbeoBL3P3IU & https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1270461 in 1953.
