I hadn't travelled on the Tyne & Wear metro network since the 1990s, and this was probably my last chance to see the original 1980 stock in use, as it's due to be replaced by newer trains in the next couple of years. Here, unit 4029 calls at South Gosforth on a service to South Hyton at dusk on a winter day. To the right is the Metro control centre.
