Row of 1850s houses. The green plaque above the door of no 102 refers to a building that previously stood behind these houses which was from 1854-65 a weaving shed, later from 1872-84 serving as a Methodist chapel before they moved to what is now the Criterion Theatre further along and on the opposite side of the street (see Image) and from 1882-90 serving as a school before it moved to Earlsdon Road North (see Image). Originally the road was called Cromwell Street, the current name first being shown on the 1926 6 inch map.
