The University of Bristol's motto is thus; it translates into (Learning) promotes one's innate power - which is derived from the Roman poet Quintus Horatius Flaccus, better known as Horace. One of his Odes (4.4) is referred to in the motto. See Image] for a wider view. Whilst on Latin, the smaller motto of Nisi Domi Quianus roughly translates as 'home for less'.
