Now converted into a residence, Sawley Barn was probably built in the 18th century. Constructed of rubble stone under a slate roof. There is a mounting block alongside the street. Appletreewick is a small rural village some 6½ miles northeast of Skipton. The village name is derived from the Old English of æppel-trēow wīc, which means the Apple-tree specialized farm. The village flourished during the early part of the 14th century and had its own market charter. Now a tourist destination.
