The Water Wheel at Walk Mill

The original mill was built on this site as far back as 1200, however the present building is modern. Walk Mill was originally a fuller’s mill not a corn mill and it derives its name from the Roman process of cleaning cloth (fulling), which was done by “walkers.” The mill stands next to the River Gowy and nearby is the site of a 12th century motte and bailey.
