Maclura pomifera - the Osage orange, horse apple or hedge apple tree is a small deciduous tree or large shrub, originally from North America. These bright green, inedible fruits (ca 4 inches diameter) carpeted the ground beneath the tree. www.cardiffparks.org.uk
