There are to be seen a whole set of houses on the south side of Richmond Avenue which have these sphinxes on either side of the entrance. These ones are painted white while all the others are black - see https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7015279 and one pair even has creepy white eyes see https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7015281
