Rail operating companies and privatisation has done a disservice to all passengers and the country. Rail travel currently costs around twice what car travel costs, but offers in return a cold, basic, unfit for purpose, shambolic and substandard service with expensive food, cold waiting rooms, demoralised staff and tired rolling stock. Not to mention the lack of investment in the properties and buildings. Or the time it takes to complete a typical journey. I sympathise with passengers who have no option but to travel daily for work, college or whatever.
