The official metalled footpath from Avenue Road to the station subway takes an angular route while people hurrying to catch their trains have taken well-worn shortcuts along desire lines. The view is between the brick building and the green cabinet seen in Image They are associated with a large underground tank that stores surface water before it is pumped to the River Leam; its cover is close by: see Image The yew trees lined the former western drive to the Manor House.
