Built as the City Police Courts between 1868 and 1871, this grand building with its monumental tower was designed by Thomas Worthington. It is a Grade II* listed building (Historic England List Entry Number: 1219894 https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1219894 ). Although the official title for the courts specifies "Minshull Street" as the address, this is the Aytoun Street façade.
