The Boer War Memorial, St Ann's Square

The Boer War Memorial was erected in 1907 near the Market Street end of St Ann's Square to commemorate those who were killed in the South African wars between 1899 and 1902. The bronze sculpture on the square base depicts a bare-headed British rifleman protecting a wounded comrade. It is Grade II-listed (Historic England List Entry Number: 1254462 https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1254462 ).
