'Ye Olde Clocktower'

Formerly known as 'The Mailcoach' and 'The Coach and Horses', and dating from the early Victorian era, this public house was a staging post where the mailcoach horses would be changed. 'Ye Olde Clocktower' name relates to the former bell foundry, which stood behind the public house. At the date of this photograph, the stable building, to the rear, had been demolished. Two days later, the roof had been removed.
