The sign names the villages of Bacton, Bromholm & Keswick. the dates 1113 and 2021 also appear. The figure in the habit represents Broomholme Priory, the ruins of which stands 150 yards to the south from the sign. It is surmounted by a painting of a boat representing the close proximity of the sea and in the spandrels are a couple of fish representing the past fishing industry and a wheatsheaf representing agriculture.
