At the east edge of Medomsley village stands this old stone building. It appears from map evidence to date to the later 19th century. It is opposite East Farm, but may not be a farm building. The lack of windows or vent slits seems to rule out a barn or byre. There was an old coal shaft shown on early maps, so could be connected to that.
