Here is the parish church of St. Idloes in Llanidloes, and the town is named after St. Idloes. The Medieval Gothic church consists of elements of the former Cistercian abbey church of Abbey Cwmhir, and the nave was rebuilt in 1542 following the dissolution of the monasteries. The nineteen-bay hammerbeam roof was transferred to the nave from the abbey, and is the finest feature of the interior of St. Idloes' church.
