Opened in 1864 on the Mid Wales Railway line, this neo Georgian building was given this grand country house style appearance since the Cambrian Railways were going to base their headquarters here; they moved in to Oswestry railway station by the time Llanidloes station opened. The railway station closed on 31st December 1962, and the railway line was removed some years later. The site of the railway is now the A470 road, where it was laid on the old railway track for the town bypass road. The building now houses JJP Services (garden machinery supplier, I think) and Wedding Belles At Lauras (wedding shop).
