When taking the photo I assumed that the (heartless) name harked back to the days of the Metropolitan Cattle Market (with its slaughterhouses), sited along Market Road a few streets away. But it seems that the name is more recent - publicising the food on offer. The pub stands at the corner of Liverpool Road and Theberton Street.
