Opened in February 1859 as the Albion Hotel/Tavern, it became a State Managed pub in August 1916. Closed in October 1916 for extensive Harry Redfern designed renovations (which included incorporation of the Deakin's Vaults pub), it reopened on 7 June 1917. It was sold to the John Smiths Brewing Group on 7 May 1973 and renamed "The Border Rambler" in 1992/3. https://thestatemanagementstory.org/the-pubs/border-rambler-botchergate-carlisle/ Image
