Memorial to the Bradford Brothers

The memorial is a recently installed one in the small village of Witton Park; the statues are in a rusting iron style that has become popular in recent years. Four brothers, George, James, Thomas and Roland Bradford fought in the First World War; Thomas was the only one to return. The memorial is specifically to two of the brothers who achieved high military rank and were awarded Victoria Crosses. Roland became the youngest Brigadier General in the history of the British Army. In 1917 he was killed in the Battle of Cambrai. George was killed on a mission against German submarines in Zeebrugge.
