Grade II Listed pub of 1625 extended in the 19th century. The front retains 16th or early 17th century windows and the pub's website claims it to date back to 1590. Many directories describe it is "P.H. & dining rooms" and otherwise include; 1842-1844 William Lintern; 1851-1852 Benjamin Bowring; 1855 Daniel Chubb; 1859 T Yeatman; 1875 Charles Hill; 1889 Walter Baker; 1895 Mrs Jane Baker; 1911-1915 The People's Refreshment House Association Ltd.
