South Street was formerly Market Street. Former 19th century coaching inn now 4 flats with retail/office premises on the ground floor. By the 1927 OS map the building is not marked as a pub, inn or hotel. Various occupants include Salon Fish, Filigrana cakes and sugarcraft, Renaissance Antiques, Fox Grant estate agents, Precision Hairdressing and Sering's Beauty Salon. Landlords listed in directories include, 1823 Mrs Sanger, 1841-1844 George Symes, 1851 James Whittle, 1852 Daniel Chubb, 1855 C Bugg, 1859 A Hare, 1875 Samuel Marsh, 1889 Samuel Saunders, 1911 James Legg and 1915 Fred Charles Hawkins
