Cambridge North: Novotel, Hercules and (missing) Galatea

The Novotel next to Cambridge North station was completed in 2020. The new statue on the station forecourt is "Hercules meets Galatea", by Matthew Darbyshire. A plaque on the plinth explains that it is "a fictional encounter between two Greco-Roman characters that explores analogue and digital making methods. Challenging the myth, Galatea's poise and digital production imply power and perfection over Hercules' somewhat shakier manifestation". These were not things I had inferred, and I left none the wiser. (I discovered the following day that the statue of Galatea was missing from the plinth in the left foreground. Having seen a photograph of it I am only a scintilla or two wiser.)
