One of the features of Rye for which it has long been famous is its potteries, especially the plaques which are found on many of the houses in Rye as well as in neighbouring places such as Winchelsea. Sadly many of the original potteries making these plaques seem to have closed. They are also seen much further afield, like this example in High Street, Burwash.
