The foundation stone of this gurdwara (Sikh temple) was laid in 1965. It is situated in Harnall Lane West, a short distance to the north of the city centre. The gurdwara is seen here during the Heritage Open Days in September 2021, when guided visits were taking place. Visitors were shown the prayer halls and invited to eat in the langar, the food hall. The blue ribbons adorning the exterior could be seen on other places of worship in the city and formed part of an event called 'Faith' in the UK City of Culture 2021 programme; see this BBC report https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-58027456 . This gurdwara has experienced internal conflicts in recent years which have occasionally turned violent, and it received an official warning from the Charity Commission in 2017 (see this report in Civil Society News, https://www.civilsociety.co.uk/news/commission-issues-warning-to-faith-charity-where-there-is-a-regular-police-attendance.html ). So it is understandably keen to emphasise its work for the local community, some of which is undertaken in co-operation with the Salvation Army, which has a hostel nearby.
