When the Tuckswood Estate was built in the late 1940s, two detached houses were built for police officers and their families to live in, on Tuckswood Lane. There were other 'ordinary' houses on the estate which were kept for police families as well: one on Hall Road, one on Robin Hood Road, one on Scarlett Road, and another one on Tuckswood Lane. This idea was used on other council housing estates around the city, too.
