This is the first lock on the Grantham Canal, abandoned in 1936. There are two filled-in lengths of the canal between here and Radcliffe Road and no prospect of joining these truncated sections to the rest of the canal through the Vale of Belvoir, some of which has been restored. The University boathouse is on the right of the picture and the Brian Clough Stand at Nottingham Forest football ground behind. The bright red steelwork is part of the Bridgford End of the ground.
