On the north wall near the altar, it reads: Here lyes the Body of Mrs ALICE ROGERS late Lady of the Mannors of CROWLANDS, LISLES and SAMES in COTTENHAM and that of Her onely Son RICHARD DACRES Esq. who departed this life the XXXth day of September MDCCXXIII in the XXVIIth year of his Age. At her decease, which was on the XXXth day of April MDCCXXVIII she left Twenty Pounds to be paid annually at Michaelmasse to the Overseers of the Poor of this Parish, Ten Pounds thereof for the Education of Five poor boys in READING, WRITING and ARITHMETICK, and the other Ten Pounds for putting out Two poor boys APPRENTICES. This Monument was erected in gratitude to Her Memory by ROGER GALE Esq. whom she constituted her Heir as to the rest of her Estate.
