Twyford Lock (No 39) is the third lock up in the Stoke flight of five on the Trent and Mersey Canal, which together raise the water level by fifty feet (15·25m). Land on that side of the canal was formerly occupied by the Etruscan Tile Works. Images from 2019 on show that scaffolding has been installed.
