On the wall at the Mount Street end of Library Walk is an inscription under a royal coat of arms that reads: GEORGE VI BY THE GRACE OF GOD OF GREAT BRITAIN IRELAND AND OF THE BRITISH DOMINIONS BEYOND THE SEAS KING DEFENDER OF THE FAITH EMPEROR OF INDIA OPENED THIS BUILDING ON THE EIGHTEENTH DAY OF MAY IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 1938
