A model showing what Arbeia may have looked like in its heyday. It was enlarged. It was a very important supply base and housed Roman Emperors including Septimius Severus, while on campaign against the Scots and quartered around 600 troops, including cavalrymen and their horses. That is roughly equivalent to a modern British Army regiment.
