New development along the Lasswade road on land previously belonging to West Edge Farm. This section of housing is part of 29 affordable homes. The development includes 12 one-bed cottage flats, 7 two-bed terraced houses and 10 3-bed end terrace houses. A further 13 houses are being provided on Golden Share terms. The Strategic Development Plan for South East Scotland 2013 stated Edinburgh needed over 20,000 houses by 2026. The development plan identified South East Edinburgh as a strategic development area with the potential to provide 7,800 homes on 20 hectares of farmland.
