Most narrowboats either have cassette or pump-out toilets. In the former case, a removable tank can be carried by the boat owner to be emptied at a disposal point. In the latter the boat has one (or sometimes two) fixed tanks that have to be pumped out by specialist equipment available at most boatyards. This generally costs around £15 - £20 per tank but the task needs to be done much less frequently than emptying cassettes. At Narrowcraft Ltd here on the Coventry Canal this little machine does the unpleasant job.
