This is a view from the edge of this still-expanding estate on the southern fringe of Cambridge. The space between these two rows (Mardler Close is on the left) was once the course of the Bedford-Cambridge railway, the eastern section of The Varsity Line, which opened in 1862 and closed on the first day of 1968.
