Primrose Hill Street is the main entrance, from the city centre, to Hillfields, the first modern suburb of Coventry, which developed from 1828 onwards and was known initially as the New Town. https://www.coventrysociety.org.uk/coventry-neighbourhoods/hillfields.html Since the end of the Second World War it has been the first toehold on the city for many migrant communities and has become very diverse ethnically. The large white building is the Kasbah, a live entertainment venue. It opened as the Globe Theatre shortly before the First World War (sources say variously 1913 and 1914) and became a cinema in Oskar Deutsch's Odeon chain from 1925. It closed as a cinema in 1956 and has since served under various names as a ballroom, bingo hall, nightclub and venue for live acts. http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/15738
