Outside the Village Hall is this fine, if rather large, Pillar box. Oddly it is not a "priority" postbox for Covid-9 samples, even though it is the only one in the village. Update: I have received a message from fellow Geographist Paul Bryan, which explains all: "Regarding your description of the pillar box in Peakirk, I just wanted to point out that it is not actually the only postbox in the village as there is also a lamp box on St. Pega's Road at the western end of the village: Image, Image In view of the low volume of post, the pillar box is only emptied once a day in the mornings by staff delivering to Peakirk (as is the lamp box; the collection times have changed since I submitted the above images in 2013). This explains why it is not a priority postbox for mailing Covid tests. The nearest Covid priority postbox was just up the road at Glinton post office." I am happy to put the record straight.
