Cumbernauld House was built in 1731 by William Adam, student of William Bruce who pioneered the classical style in Scotland in the 18th century. The style reached its height under Robert Adam, William Adam's son. Cumbernauld Park is used to stage the annual Scottish National Cross Country Relay Championships.
