The broken foot of a very solidly buried dressed stone, at the right location to be the remains of a milestone. It is not obvious there would have been a subscription cut but a typical one would be: Inscription: Dukinfield Junction 4 / Bugsworth Basin 10½ Milestone Society National ID: PFC-04
