An interesting decision by the Manchester & Milford Railway to name this Strata Florida station when it opened the line through here in 1867, as it is actually in Ystradmeurig, which is over 3 miles from Strata Florida. Possibly a marketing ploy, as the name of Strata Florida Abbey would be better known to Victorian travellers. After a two-mile straight section across Cors Caron, the line curved sharply to the left here. The double platform station stood on the ground now covered in grass in this view. The line closed in 1967 and little trace of the railway remains. Much of the route, from Tregaron to Aberystwyth, is now utilised by the Ystwyth Trail.
