The Jubilee Garage building

Bourne's Jubilee Garage was named for 1935s celebrations, and moved here in the late 1950s. It was a workshop, main dealer, and filling station - there was a row of small petrol pumps under a little canopy behind where the current parked cars are. Upstairs were a series of rented offices, for prestige users like Oxfam and the NFU insurers. After the garage closed, the far end became a tyre fitting depot and the nearer end a hardware shop. Upstairs was deserted, although a brothel did open just after the millennium and lasted a few years. The whole building fell into rack and ruin when ridiculous rent increases drove the businesses out, and it has been empty for at least 5 years, perhaps 10 (my memory telescopes). It has now been sold, during the pandemic and Image reveals to whom. There will be a branch of the Co-op food stores. I don't yet know if they are taking the whole building, because the licence posters only appear at one end, but that might be the end to which they had a key!
