Northmoor Hill Wood Nature Reserve in Denham is part of the Colne Valley Regional Park which extends from Rickmansworth in the north to Staines and the Thames in the south, and from Uxbridge and Heathrow in the east to Slough and Chalfont St Peter in the west. Northmoor Hill is both a Local Nature Reserve and an Ancient Woodland – land which has been continuously wooded since 1600. It also includes a swallow hole where a stream disappears into the ground.
