I'm not a great fan of Victorian churches, some of which are downright ugly, but St Helen's is not, being a rather grand, light and spacious church in a fourteenth century style. It dates from 1856/7 and is very much an estate church, whilst it cost a not inconsiderable £26,000 to construct. Extensive repairs were necessary after a serious fire in 1923.
