From left to right, the 'Starkie Arms', the 'New Black Bull', and the 'Kings', sit cheek by jowl at the junction of Mill Street with Church Street in the centre of this small Lancashire town. I asked the landlord of the 'Starkie Arms' if this was a viable situation, but he assured me that they were 'good drinkers in Padiham'. Incidentally, the 'Starkie Arms' also offers accommodation and food.
