Hill Close Gardens comprise sixteen Victorian town gardens, like allotments but on a grander scale, with hedges and summer houses. They occupy a slope on the west side of the historic town, between the old town centre on the hilltop and the racecourse at Lammas Field below. They were saved from the threat of redevelopment as housing in the late 20th century and are now in use once again as gardens and are open to the public. https://hillclosegardens.com/
